Incorporating regular self care activities can lower stress, boost mental clarity, and even improve your physical health.
The best part? Many of these practices are simple, affordable, and can be done right at home!
Here are 15 deeply nourishing self care activities you can add to your weekly routine.

1. Take a Hot Shower or At-Home Sauna
Few things feel more cleansing than a hot shower after a long day.
To make it a true ritual, bring in eucalyptus bundles to hang in your shower or try an essential oil shower steamer for a spa-like scent.
If you want to take it further, an at-home sauna (this one on Amazon is $87!!) or portable steam sauna can be a game-changer.
Sweating helps your body detoxify, improve circulation, and relax tight muscles, leaving you refreshed and clear-headed.

2. Apply a Manuka Honey Face Mask
Skincare can be one of the most luxurious self care activities, especially when it’s simple and natural. Manuka honey is rich in antibacterial and healing properties.
Applying a mask just once or twice a week can hydrate, calm inflammation, and leave your skin glowing.
All you need is raw Manuka honey (this is the one I use and it so thick and creamy. It is $12 on amazon!)—apply a thin layer, let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse. Pair it with a jade roller or gua sha tool to enhance circulation.
3. Give Yourself a Lymphatic Massage
Massage doesn’t have to be reserved for spa visits. With the right oil and technique, you can do your own lymphatic drainage at home.
Apply organic body oil like jojoba (my favorite!), almond, or sesame, and use upward strokes toward your heart to support circulation and reduce water retention.
For an extra boost, incorporate a dry brush before your shower to exfoliate and stimulate the lymphatic system.
Here is a tip….try combining multiple self care activities together such as going on a walk, listening to an audible-book, and stretch when you get home.
4. Walk in Nature
Nature walks are one of the simplest and most effective self care activities you can do daily.
The best part is that a walk in nature is absolutley free! I try to get 16,000 steps in daily and when I do, I feel sooo good mentally, emotionally, and phsyically.
Research shows that time outdoors reduces cortisol levels, improves mood, and supports cardiovascular health.
To make the most of it, choose a trail with greenery or water views, bring along a refillable water bottle, and wear comfortable walking shoes.
Even a 20-minute walk around your neighborhood can have lasting benefits! Start small and add on!
Of all the self care activities, this one is my favorite!
5. Digital Detox
You know it is bad for you, yet you still use your phone consistently. Why?!?!?
Our constant connection to phones and social media can feel draining.
So a digital detox will change everything for you.
A digital detox—whether for an hour, a day, or a weekend—gives your brain a much-needed break.
Try storing your devices in a charging station in another room, and set boundaries like “no screens one hour before bed.”
Pair this time with another self care activity, like journaling or reading, to make the detox more enjoyable.
6. Read a Book
Reading isn’t just relaxing—it strengthens your focus, creativity, and even empathy.
Create a cozy nook with a blanket, tea, and a good book.
You can build your collection affordably with e-readers (this one is $108) or audiobook subscriptions if you prefer to listen while you walk or cook.
Kill two birds with one stone!!
Even 15 minutes of reading a day can become a calming nightly ritual.
I love to read right before bed to unwind and get tired.
7. Light a Candle or Burn Incense
Scent can instantly shift your mood and create a sanctuary-like atmosphere.
Whether you love the cozy smell of vanilla, the earthiness of sandalwood, or the crispness of eucalyptus, lighting a soy candle or natural incense can be grounding.
If you’re sensitive to smoke, try a diffuser with essential oils (this one is so cute) for the same calming effect.
8. Journaling
Writing is one of the most therapeutic self care activities because it gives your thoughts a safe place to land.
Try a gratitude journal where you list three things you’re thankful for each day, or free-write for 10 minutes without judgment.
A guided journal can help if you don’t know where to start. Pair journaling with a hot cup of tea to create a calming nightly ritual.
9. Gentle Yoga or Stretching
Gentle movement can be just as restorative as a workout.
Even 10 minutes of yoga or stretching can ease muscle tension, improve posture, and calm the nervous system.
Roll out a non-toxic yoga mat, play calming music, and flow through simple poses like child’s pose, cat-cow, and forward folds.
For guided support, try an online class or a yoga app.
Or just search “yoga tutorial” on youtube!
10. Herbal Tea Ritual
The act of preparing tea can become a mindful ritual all on its own.
Herbal teas like chamomile, lavender, peppermint, and rooibos are naturally caffeine-free and help calm the mind.
Keep a collection of organic herbal teas and sip them before bed to support relaxation and better sleep.
Pair it with journaling or reading for a soothing nightly wind-down routine.

11. Aromatherapy Shower
Transform your daily shower into a sensory escape.
Place a few drops of eucalyptus or lavender essential oil on the shower floor, or use aromatherapy shower steamers.
The steam activates the scent, creating an instant spa-like experience.
This is a simple, affordable self care activity that fits seamlessly into your daily routine.
12. Creative Expression
Creativity is often overlooked as a form of self-care, but expressing yourself through art can be incredibly healing.
Whether you paint, write poetry, or use adult coloring books, creative outlets allow you to process emotions and de-stress.
Set aside 30 minutes a week to make something just for the joy of it—no pressure, no expectations.
13. Nourishing Skincare Routine
Turn your everyday skincare into a ritual instead of a rushed routine.
Use a gentle cleanser, a hydrating serum, and take a few extra minutes to massage your skin with a gua sha tool or jade roller.
This not only improves circulation but also gives you mindful moments of touch and self-love. Adding a natural moisturizer or facial oil completes the ritual.
14. Meditation or Breathwork
Even five minutes of meditation can have lasting effects on your stress levels and mental clarity.
If you find meditation challenging, try guided sessions through an app or start with simple breathwork: inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 6, hold for 2.
A comfortable meditation cushion can help you sit longer with ease.
15. Sound Therapy
Sound has a powerful effect on the nervous system.
Try listening to nature sounds, binaural beats, or calming music as part of your self care routine.
For a deeper experience, explore singing bowls or sound baths that help clear energy and promote deep relaxation.
Even playing your favorite playlist during your walk can shift your mood instantly.
