Would you believe me if I said I made these cookies by accident? Sometimes things turn out that way when in the kitchen. The best way to describe these cookies is to imagine the perfect fluffy & large cinnamon roll. Now compress the flavors into a delicious bite-sized cookie.

Of course, the gooey and drippy vanilla icing is delicious and pairs well with the cinnamon flavor.

How to make dairy-free cinnamon roll cookies:

Let’s get into it.

First, we will make the cookie dough. To do this, beat the wet ingredients together. Then, slowly add the sugar to the bowl. Beat until well combined.

Next, slowly add the dry ingredients to the bowl. You will notice that thick cookie dough will form. The key here is to make sure the texture is easily moldable. If not, add more flour.

Roll out the dough like a flat pizza dough on a floured surface. Then, smear coconut oil on top of the flat dough. Now for the exciting part, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top of the dough. I like to use a spoon to ensure the cinnamon sugar layer is firmly and evenly spread over the dough.

Roll up the dough into a long log. To cut the cookie rolls, use a sharp knife to avoid distorted cookies. Bake the cookies for ~12 minutes.

While the cookies bake, make the vanilla icing. Drizzle the sweet icing on the top of the cookies once they cool. Enjoy!!

Variations

iced cinnamon roll cookies

Okay, this alternative version to cinnamon rolls will change your life. It is a little bit intense, but if you love chocoalte and peanut butter, then these will be a flavor bomb!

  • Peanut butter chocolate chip cinnamon roll cookies – WOW this combination will change your life. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and savory from the salty peanut butter. To make these, smear peanut butter into the cinnamon roll before rolling up the dough into a log. Then, sprinkle chocolate chips onto the flat dough. Finally, roll it up, slice, and bake!

Equipment

To make these delicious cookies, all you need is a mixing bowl, a mixer, a rolling pin (this one is cute and functional!), and a baking dish. It’s as easy as that!

Storage

These cookies store well for up to ~4 days in an air-tight container. I would eat them all on the first day, to be honest – they are so good that there probably won’t be a “where should we store the cookies?” because you ate them all!

Top tip

If you want to make a small batch of these cookies, make the full recipe and then cut ½ the dough into small circles. Freeze the other half and take it out when you want to indulge!

FAQ

Does cinnamon roll contain dairy?

Cinnamon rolls only contain dairy and are not vegan if they have milk, butter, or eggs in the recipe. Oddly enough, many store-bought cinnamon rolls are dairy free and vegan – that is the dough itself is dairy free. I would keep your eyes open for the ingredients listed in the icing, which could have milk.

Are Pillsbury cinnamon rolls vegan?

The popular Pillsbury cinnamon rolls are not vegan because they contain milk products in the icing.

Is there dairy in Pillsbury cinnamon rolls?

Unfortunately, Pillsbury cinnamon rolls are not “accidently vegan” and they do contain milk products.
